Would you like to own your own home?
Habitat for Humanity Menominee River (HFHMR) is a non-profit, ecumenical organization dedicated to providing a way for families to buy a home, but who cannot afford a conventional, bank-financed home loan.
Habitat for Humanity is not a government agency, nor do we provide "government like" services. We do not give our homes away. Habitat for humanity builds homes and then sells those homes to qualifying families (See the qualification table.). HFHMR does not provide free housing. HFHMR families purchase their home. You must be able to pay a mortgage, and attend financial planning and minor home repair classes. To read a complete eligibility description click here.
To keep the purchase cost down, HFHMR relies upon volunteered labor and some donated materials. That means each member of the family agrees to work 200 hours building their home. Each weekend members of our community's service organizations and businesses dedicate a full day to building the home. That's the Habitat way.
We work with working families, with good credit, to find affordable ways to finance the home. Because we are our own bank, we can set our interest rates. Habitat is committed to providing simple, decent homes to families who can show a willingness to partner, a need for housing, and an ability to pay their mortgage.
Habitat for Humanity Menominee River serves Michigan's Dickinson, Iron & parts of Menominee County, and Wisconsin's northern Marinette County and eastern Florence County.
