A Brush with Kindness (ABWK)
How the ABWK Program Works - Applicants must be the owner and resident of an A Brush with Kindness home. - A sliding scale is used to determine costs for families involved with an A Brush with Kindness project. (The chart has an example.) - Applicants must agree to have a non-interest bearing lien that is payable in full in the event of sale, default, transfer of title or payoff of the first mortgage placed upon the home. It is removed if the homeowner remains in the home for five years.
ABWK Requires Homeowner Involvement. Repairs are led by trained crew leaders and completed by volunteers. If selected to partner for A Brush with Kindness, homeowners must: • Be on site and work everyday until the project is completed. • Must remain the resident and owner of the home for at least five years after the job is completed. • Sign a covenant that demonstrates their understanding of partnership.
